Ama Warnock
(They/She) is a community full spectrum doula, childbirth educator, and peer counselor on Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi land (Chicago, IL). They are highly trained and skilled in providing support to people who experience marginalization in medical spaces, particularly queer and trans folks, people of color, disabled folks, teens, and people experiencing housing insecurity. As a survivor of complex violence in both childhood and adulthood, she is dedicated both to working with clients who also have lived experience with trauma and to supporting other birth workers in providing trauma-informed care. Ama works to facilitate birth experiences that center informed consent, community care, and the prevention of obstetric violence.
Ama has a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University focused on reproductive health, non-carceral mental health, and human rights in healthcare. They have trained with Birth Advocacy Doula Trainings, The Southern Midwife, MamasteFit, Birth Monopoly, and Mujer Montuna Mama Aicha. She is mentored by the Kuluntu Reproductive Justice Center in providing anti-racist and anti-oppressive care.
