Intro to Singing and Piano for Kids
Event Information
About this Event
For kids that love to sing and have an interest in the piano, this class is a great introduction to music for our budding stars. Develop skills and build a strong musical foundation with songs kids know and love! Blending singing with easy piano-playing, this class offers children a way to associate the piano with the fun, natural process of singing as they learn simple musical concepts like pitch, intervals, and tonal relationships.
Disney favorites like “Let It Go” and “I Am Moana”, pop songs like “Shake it Off” and “Wolves,” or classics like “Baby Shark” and “Twinkle Twinkle” will make it into the repertoire list. Songs chosen are based on requests by students who attend, so attend multiple classes to be sure your favorites make it into the repertoire list!
Solfege (do, re, mi, etc.) is a musical system based on syllables that is used in sight-singing. Beginners and pros alike have used this system for ages. It's a great tool for developing a musical ear and building music-reading and sight-singing skills. It helps with understanding tonal relationships and developing a music foundation. This class will introduce basic solfege, piano keys related to each solfege syllable, hand gestures, and simple songs combining solfege and piano playing. Music has been proven to make us smarter, so only those who want high test scores and IQs need sign up.
By the end of the class, students will be able to sing and play songs using solfege! Songs chosen are based on student favorites, so sign up for multiple classes to have a choice in what is sung for the next class!
