INTRODUCTION TO PLAYWRITING: Get out of the way, and allow your characters to tell a story that will transform lives.

About this Event

Have you ever dream of writing a stage play but don’t know how to begin. If so, this intro to playwriting workshop is just for you. This workshop will cover the elements and structure of a stage play, such as the exciting incident, the play’s arc, high and low context dialogue, action dialogue, the unspoken word, use of conflict, and the standard playwriting format. At the end of this workshop, you will have the tools to enter into your characters’ world and allow them to take you on a journey towards telling a story that will transform lives.

Characters do not care about what you want…They are in their own world…Enter into your characters’ world and let them take you on a journey of exploration.

Testimony:

I had the pleasure of working several months with Arlean, who was the director of the stage play of, "Will I Ever Get Married?" Throughout those months, Arlean have been nothing but a pleasure to work with. She is a combination of joy and tough love, which I truly appreciated. She never sugar coated anything. She was a strict yet understandable acting coach and director. She was helpful, and gave us constructive criticism when needed. I think I can speak for any actor when I say, that is what we seek in a coach to help us get better. I would definitely work with her again. Having her as a hands on coach, I have learned a lot from her. I have learned new techniques and even paying closer attention to details. I felt I have grown as an actress and I am grateful to have work with Arlene. Thanks Arlene!
