Event description

Description

This monthly series is designed to teach you how to use grasshopper in Rhino3d to design, manipulate, and 3D print parametric forms. At the end of the session, you get to take home your creation!

Parametric design is a process based on algorithmic thinking that enables the expression of parameters and rules that, together, define, encode and clarify the relationship between design intent and design response. It is a powerful tool that enables designers to harness computation to quickly and easily generate complex forms. Its adoption in a range of industries, from fashion to architecture, has provided a glimpse of the future of design. Learn to wield this technology and be on the forefront of your profession!

Who will be leading the Workshop?
Julian Ramirez is the Founder of The Visual Mode, a digital design services company and provider of free online recources for designers. While earning his Masters in Architecture from Florida International University, he organized and taught several workshop sessions to help students understand algorithmic and parametric processes in architecture. He is now conducting research at the univeristy to apply 3D printing and robotics towards architectural construction. Visual Mode's assistant instructor, Daniel Tabet, is the 2017 recipient of the Ratcliffe research grant for exceptional design in entrepreneurial practices. He is also the principal of NilArc, a research effort to create interesting and unique concepts for sustainable design utilizing parametricism among other resources
