Event description

Description

In this workshop you’ll be shown the process of linoprinting. Linoprinting is using tools to carve away sections of blocks of soft lino, then rolling ink onto the areas that remain and printing them onto paper. You’ll learn what tools to use, how to plan, carve and print a linocut, all while creating your own linocut and prints to take home with you. Come to the session with a design ideas in mind, and we’ll sketch it out at the beginning of the workshop and then adapt the drawings so they translate into lino.

During the workshop you'll use lino cutters, paper, printing ink, rollers, tracing paper and sharpies, and the size of the Lino will be 100 x 150 mm, roughly postcard size, and will be in printed in black on white paper. Be sure to come with a idea, drawing, or image in mind to help you create your design.

Katie Jackson, the leader of this workshop, is a Yorkshire born fibre artist and printmaker and recent graduate from LJMU’s graphic design and illustration programme. She loves using traditional media to create characterful animal illustrations. The memories of growing up on her uncle’s farm greatly inspires her work to this day. It is the driving force behind all her work and the root of her passion for animals. To see more of her work, check out her website, https://www.katiejacksonillustration.com.
