Intro to EL Wire

EL wire is simple in concept, but any who have tried understand the level of finess required. Following a brief lecture on how Electroluminescent Wire actually works, Matt Pinner will teach students his favourite tips, tricks, and techniques to ensure a durable and safe result for clothing and other projects.
Attendees are requested to bring an item of clothing (or an object) to modify with their EL Wire for an awesome TRON-like effect. Creativity is highly encouraged.
About the Instructor
Our instructor Matt Pinner is a professional Software Engineer, an ingenious DIY maker, and has been playing with EL-Wire in costumes for 7 years and learned from the best. (Many of his earliest pieces are still functional to this day!) He's one of the founding members of Crashspace, and a pillar of the maker movement. Matt specializes in wearable electronics and experiments with light. Checkout his LED Dinosaur Jacket, Motion-Reactive LED Disco Ball, and Light-Up FlipBooKIT.

We are located at LA Mart. Look for the very large chair.
The Blue Line Grand Station at Washington and Grand is 2 blocks away in front of LA Trade Tech College and there are several bus stops within a block as well.
Parking Lot: $10.00 – M-F; $5.00 ($7.00 non-members)- Saturday and Sunday. Inquire at desk.
Street Parking: Available; See meters for time restrictions
NOTE: Parking on Hill Street is FREE on Sunday
Entry on Saturday and Sundays and Weekdays after 6pm is through the Employee Entrance to the left of the main LA Mart doors.
