Event description

Description

Come learn how to draw by creating a photo-realistic portrait. Bring an image of a loved one, and turn it into an awesome artwork to save. Even total beginners can make a great drawing after learning the “grid” technique. This method has been used by artists for hundreds of years and is useful for creative projects ranging from illustration to mural painting.

Level: No experience necessary, all levels welcome.

Bring: Please bring a high-resolution photo to work from. Close-up portraits are preferred.

Instructor bio

Gabrielle Abbott is an award winning, international artist known for her large chalk murals. The six years she spent in Europe studying renaissance painting and contemporary art taught her how to combine ancient traditions with modern ideas. Currently, she’s based in Seattle and teaches fine arts at Antioch University. In addition to her art career, Gabrielle is a yoga teacher and practitioner of Vipassana meditation. Her goal is to nurture the artist within each of her students so they can bring the creative spark fully into all areas of their lives.
