Join instructors Taryn Heilman, Galvanize Lead Instructor & Senior Data Scientist, and Frank Burkholder, Ph.D., Instructor & Senior Data Scientist, for this evening course that provides a broad overview of Deep Learning applications. In this class, which is spread over two weeks, we will cover the fundamental concepts in mathematics and programming required to apply Deep Learning, aka artificial neural networks.

The course will utilize open source technologies: Docker, python, and tensorflow.
Participants will be guided through hands-on activities covering the following topics:
* matrix operations and machine learning basics in tensorflow
* multi-layer perceptrons
* convolutional neural nets for image labeling and classification
* recurrent neural nets for text generation and stock price prediction
* autoencoders for dimensionality reduction, data compression, and machine translation

Pre-requisites & What You'll Need to Bring:

  • Experience with Numpy
  • Intermediate practitioner of Python
  • Recent use of college-level linear algebra, or within last 5 years

Please bring your laptop computer, a charge cord and make sure that your computer is running the latest version of OSX, Linux, Unix or Ubuntu.
