Event description

Description

An introduction to computational thinking and coding in the classroom! On Saturday February 24th, Kids Code Jeunesse in partnership with Lighthouse Labs will provide a workshop for teachers on the basics of coding and computational thinking. This free, full-day workshop will provide K - 12 educators with the tools they need to inspire and encourage the use of technology inside and outside of the classroom. No coding experience? No problem. This workshop is designed for beginners.

What is computational thinking and why does it matter?

Computational thinking is problem solving; it’s understanding larger structures with both human and technological systems. It could be as simple as following a recipe, or as advanced as coding a website. Computational thinking is to computers as astronomy is to telescopes; it's about how we conceptualize information, and how we put those concepts into practice.

As teachers, you provide students with the skills to navigate an ever-changing academic landscape, and in today’s world digital literacy has become a necessity. This workshop will introduce teachers to the building blocks of computational thinking through coding in an accessible, beginner friendly format, blending the worlds of tech and education to create amazing outcomes.

Here is what you can expect!
