Course Description:

This training provides a foundational understanding clinical supervision for mental health practitioners by identifying the key roles of the supervisor, theoretical models of supervision and functional aspects of supervision.  This is the first in the supervision series.


  • Increase understanding of the role of the supervisor.
  • Be exposed to various theoretical models of supervision.
  • Explore personal process of supervisory development.
  • Understand risk management as it pertains to supervision.
  • Gain an understanding of laws/rules that impact employment/supervision.


As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define what supervision is and explain its function.
  • Compare and contrast the four roles of the supervisor and identify the strengths of each.
  • Be able to create a needs based plan for supervision.
  • Utilize the assessment tools required for the various licensure requirements.
  • Discuss the importance of risk management and identify high risk situations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of discipline processes, including skills related to documentation.

Cancellation Policy:
You may cancel your registration any time up to one business day prior to and receive a full refund.  No refunds will be given for cancellation made with less than one business day notice.  Agencies are welcome to send a substitute participant in place of a registered participant if a registered participant cannot attend.  In the event that a training is cancelled by MOPS due to inclement weather, health of the presenter, etc. you will receive a full refund or a credit for a future workshop, whichever you desire.  Payment can be made before the training day or the morning of training.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to training if payment is being made the morning of the training.

Electronic Devices:

Mid-Ohio Psychological Services, Inc. provides access to internet services for training participants.  During the training, please limit the use electronic devices to activities that enhance the learning experience as opposed to personal/recreational activities.  When using such devices, please do so in such a way as to minimize disruption and with consideration for the presenter and other participants.  

Course Hours:
Sign-in begins at 8:30 am.  Coffee and hot tea is provided, meals and snacks are on your own. Full attendance will be required to receive a certificate; no partial credits will be offered for individuals missing more than a total of fifteen (15) minutes course time.
