Description

THIS EVENT IS CURRENTLY SOLD OUT!

Please consider one of our other Intro to Carpentry classes currently on the calendar, or sign up to receive class announcements every other week.

* Carpentry for Women classes are a safe and supportive learning environment specifically for women to develop carpentry skills.

A garden bench, a plant stand, or maybe a catch-all next to the front door - come with basic measurements and leave with your new piece of custom furniture! Using a very simple design and reclaimed lumber available in class, you’ll make a basic table or bench while gaining skills and confidence to use in future DIY projects.

Skill level: This class is built for beginners.

Topics covered:

  • measuring & marking accurately

  • handsaw and chopsaw: basic use & safety

  • drilling & driving screws: getting it right

  • lessons from beyond: tapping in to skills you may already have

Class fees/scholarships/donations: Class fees include all materials. Scholarships options are available on every class registration page, and are 100% funded through donations from other students. Please accept this gift if you need it; if you can, please consider paying more to pay it forward!

Unable to attend? Sign up to receive class announcements every other week, or check out all currently scheduled classes here.

FAQs

What can/can't I bring to the event? Please wear closed-toe shoes, tie long hair back, remove all hand/wrist/neck jewelry, and avoid baggy clothing or clothing with things hanging from them (sweatshirt hood ties, etc).

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Currently, we are only accepting students over 18 years of age. We are exploring future classes open to minors.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? There is street parking available on the surrounding streets. The #4 bus runs on Mississippi and drops off within a block of the ReBuilding Center. The Overlook Park stop on the Yellow Max Line is about a 15 minute walk, as well.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No - unless your name is different than that of the attendee on the original registration. If that is the case, please bring proof in the form of a printed ticket or other confirmation.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay? Yes, tickets can be given to anyone who is over 18 years of age.

What is your refund policy? You may transfer your ticket to another individual who is 18 years of age or older. We currently do not offer refunds; if it is a special scenario, please email education@rebuildingcenter.org.
