Intro to Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF)
Our Intensive 2-Day Weekend Workshop: Introduction to Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA) runs from 10:00AM to 6:00PM on Saturday & Sunday and are taught by experienced LIMS Certified Movement Analysts (CMAs)
Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF) are a set of principles developed by Irmgard Bartenieff, who studied with Rudolf Laban. Bartenieff developed a methodology exploring the principles of kinesiological functioning that can be used to to observe and analyze our bodies in motion that can be extended into all types of movement possibilities. Immerse yourself in an extraordinary, integrative movement experience that goes beyond technique. Explore the underlying principles of movement through the lens of Bartenieff; this somatic movement approach that is shaking up and waking up the fitness, performing arts, and communication worlds.
Required for entry for the LIMS® Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies.
It is highly recommended that this workhop be taken in conjunction with Introduction to Laban Movement Analysis (LMA).
Do I have to have prior dance or movement experience? No, you do not. All our introductory workshops assume that you have no prior knowledge of the material and you do not have to be a professional dancer or athlete. Anyone interested in learning more about Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis is welcome to attend our workshops.
I registered for a workshop but I cannot attend it. What can I do? Let us know as soon as you can and note our cancellation policy below. You can either request a refund or transfer your registration to another date up to one year after your registration date with no additional fees incurred. You may even transfer to one of our other introductory workshops.
Cancellation Policy: Once registered, if you are unable to attend, thank you for letting LIMS know immediately. A full refund minus a $50 processing fee is available when you notify LIMS 2 weeks prior to the workshop. Cancellations 2 weeks or less from the workshop date will receive 50% of tuition in refund. LIMS reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment.
What do I need to bring to the workshop? Please plan to arrive approximately 10-15 minutes before the class starting time. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, and plan to be barefoot. You may wish to bring a sweatshirt, socks and a towel or yoga mat as we will be on the floor. If you wish to take notes, bring a pen/pencil and either a notebook or pad of paper. Also I would advise a bottle of water and snacks although you will have a break for lunch.
Do I need to purchase any books? You will be receiving handouts as part of the course. There are no required textbooks, but we will have several books available for purchase at the LIMS® office.
I am taking the workshop to satisfy a requirement for my college or university, will you provide proof of my attendance? Yes, upon request, we will provide you with a certification of completion that you can submit to your school.
