Description

Have an interest in 3D printing? Come to our class at the Foundry and learn what you need to get started!

In this class you will learn how to build a name tag keychain in Tinkercad, the steps of slicing using Slic3r and Pronterface, how to start a print on the Kerby, and the basic techniques to troubleshoot simple problems.

Once you have learned these basic skills you will be able to make all manner of things with a 3D printer, so stop dreaming and start making at the Foundry!

Skill level: This class is built for beginners

Topics Covered:

  • 3D CAD design

  • Use of 3D slicing software

  • Starting prints on the Kerby 3D printer

  • Troubleshooting your prints

You will need to bring your own laptop computer with some (free) applications installed. You can follow the links below to find the downloads:

Slicing Software (Slic3r)

Printer Control Software (Pronterface): select either the Mac or Windows files as you require, the latest available on the list.

If you have trouble finding or installing the software, or need us to arrange a computer for you, that's not a problem, just message us about it beforehand at education@bellinghamfoundry.com, and we will help you out with whatever you need.
