Introduction of Evidence Informed Physical Therapy Management for Patients with Cervicogenic Dizziness:
- Part A: Decision Making Algorithm and Clinical Reasoning
- Part B: Selected Features of Physical Examination and Manual Physical Therapy
Instructors: Francis C Jung, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. MDT, COMT, CMTPT, FAAOMPT & Sherin Mathew, PT, DPT, CMTPT
CEU: 7.5 hours submitted to the Maryland Board.
Part A Learning Objectives
a. Participants will recognize history and behavior of symptoms to consider a possible hypothesis of cervical origin of dizziness in clinical encounter.
b. Participants will demonstrate clinical judgment to expand clinical decision making in comparing and contrasting most common differential diagnoses of dizziness.
c. Participants will able to organize or collect evidence informed clusters of signs and symptoms of cervicogenic dizziness.
d. Participants will incorporate overall diagnostic decision making paradigm/pattern of cervicogenic dizziness in clinical practice setting.
Part B Learning Objectives
a. Participants will design a paradigm of comprehensive sensorimotor evaluation relevant to dizziness in physical therapy setting and prioritize selection of physical therapy management.
b. Participants will acquire skills in physical examination and special tests of cervicothoracic-scapular complex region to collect relevant items for cervicogenic dizziness.
c. Participants will demonstrate to perform differential diagnosis between BPPV and cervical origin of dizziness.
d. Participants will be familiar with assessment and manual therapy interventions in upper cervical region.
