Description

Karuna Training

Skillful communication and compassionate exchange are an expression of our intrinsic health.

This is an introductory class for people who would like to learn about and experience the fundamentals of Karuna Training and the foundations of Contemplative Psychology. Karuna Training is an in-depth training program in Contemplative Psychology, uncovering how to heal ourselves and work skillfully with others through the innate potency of the heart. The program joins a deep study of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist principles with contemplative practice, skills development, and ongoing group interaction and community support. It is a journey of discovering one's own brilliant sanity and of learning how to exchange ourselves for others, transforming everyday life challenges into opportunities for openness and wisdom.

This stand-alone class has no prerequisites and is open to everyone, introducing the basics of Contemplative Psychology as it has evolved from Naropa University in Boulder Colorado. Students in Karuna Training's 2-year Basic Training are awarded a certificate for 309 hours of training and receive Continuing Education Credit, working through the experiential material together in a cohort. For more information on Karuna Training, go to www.karunatraining.com

Contemplative Psychology originated at Naropa University in 1974, under the direction of Dr. Edward Podvoll and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Karuna Training was founded in 1996 in Germany as a certificate program. Today Karuna Training is offered in Germany, Netherlands, France, Poland, Austria, Spain, and since 2014 in North America with training cycles in California’s Bay Area, The Pacific Northwest, and the Southwest. Karuna is launching a new cycle in Spring 2019 in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the East Coast.

Who is this program for?

This is an introductory talk, open to all.

Contemplative Psychology offers transformative practices using a contemplative approach to help those who are in a relationship with others. It is well-suited for those who work with others professionally, as well as for those interested in personal development. Karuna training is scheduled primarily over weekends, with three week-long intensives, and ongoing continuity group meetings.
