Event description

Description

Women are the fastest growing group in our prison & jails. 90% of incarcerated women are survivors of sexual assault or abuse, yet male guards can strip search women and supervise them in washrooms. 80% of women in prison are mothers, yet many are sent hundreds of miles from their home making it financially impossible for their children to visit. And 2,000 women give birth behind bars every year, yet there aren't few policies that prevent them from shackling or being placed in solitary confinement. Join us for a deep-dive into the experiences of formerly incarcerated women and a vision of future where Dignity is restored to women behind bars.
