Event description

Description

Overt racial hatred made the headlines in 2017 and alerted many white Americans to the on-going legacy of white supremacy in this country. But to focus on only on active hate groups is to miss key systemic and cultural aspects of how racism operates in this country - even in liberal and progressive spaces. AWARE-LA and White People 4 Black Lives have been engaging white people around issues of white privilege, white supremacy, and anti-racism for 14 years. This workshop will explore the ways that white supremacy and race play out in our daily lives, provide tools for becoming more aware and active in combatting these enactments, and invite participants on to pathways for responsible, healthy, white anti-racist action in solidarity with people-of-color led organizations and movements.

FEATURING: Matt McGorry, Mikayla Branz, Jason David, and Rachel Hamburg
