Description

Join DVN as we launch the newest instillation of the Community Wide Plan: INTERSECTIONS! We are beginning with the exploration of Substance Abuse, with the training "Uppers, Downers, and Everything Else, with Senior Lecturer Lisa K. Steiner, MSW, LCSW, LCAC, in partnership with Indiana University.

"Uppers, Downers, and Everything Else," is a broad overview of the physical, emotional and psychological effects of drugs, and general impacts on the brain. Presenter, Lisa Steiner, will describe the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of the most abused drugs, overall, and in Indiana.

Learning objectives for participants include the following:

  1. Understand classes of substances of abuse, their general physical and behavioral effects and routes of administration.

  2. Understand basic neurotransmission, the reward pathway in the brain, and general changes in the addicted brain.

  3. Understand an overview of recent trends in substance abuse in Indiana, as prepared for the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction, FSSA.

We hope that you will join us for what is sure to be an informative and educational session. We will see you there!
