Brandeis University and the Heller School of Social Policy and Management present

Intersectionality: Innovations in Research, Policy and Teaching Symposium

Keynote Address by Kimberle Crenshaw, JD

The term “intersectionality” is used to describe the simultaneous intersections between aspects of social difference and identity (e.g.,race/ethnicity, gender, class, etc.) and forms of systematic oppression such as racism, sexism and classism at micro and macro levels.

This symposium is designed to stimulate an important conversation about the implications of intersectionality for research, policy, and teaching in the Brandeis community and beyond.

On Nov 8th, Kimberlé Crenshaw, JD, (http://aapf.org/mission/co-founders/), an internationally renowned scholar on intersectionality, will give a public address, preceded by a reception, open to the community.

On Friday morning, Nov 9th, Professor Crenshaw will hold additional sessions with students, faculty and staff on the specific topics of research, policy and teaching. Information to follow on additional intersectionality sessions.
