Event description

Description

Purpose: Enhance self-understanding and the ability to work well with others who are different.

As we work with others who come from different backgrounds, have different perceptions, and understand different cultural languages, such differences can challenge collaboration. By examining our personal backgrounds and where others come from, we strengthen the foundation for personal growth and effective collaboration.

Please note – This is presented over two sessions that occur a week apart. Attendance is required for both sessions.

Objectives:

  • Examine the thinking patterns that lead from assumption to response -- and the consequences.

  • Explore the complexity and richness of identity for ourselves and for working well with others.

  • Strengthen our understanding and enhance our camaraderie with others working at Berea College.

  • Develop awareness and skills for working in a diverse Berea College workplace.

Part 1Wed, May 9. (8:30 a.m. to noon) - Foundations of identity

Part 2Wed, May 16 (8:30 a.m. to noon) - Exploring identity stories

Target Audience: Anyone who works at Berea College
