Interprofessional Teaming: Creating a Culture of Collaboration, is an online self-paced course offering. This offering is made possible through the support of a HRSA grant: Education to Promote Interprofessional Collaborative Care (EPICC), Katherine Dontje, as Principal Investigator. Content for this online offering was developed by an interprofessional team consisting of Katherine Dontje, PhD, FNP-BC, FAANP; Deborah Young, PharmD, BCPS; and Lynne Sinclair, MA, BScPT. Collaboration on the grant includes partners in the Michigan State University College of Nursing, College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. This online offering serves a goal of the HRSA grant to develop on-line interactive modules of the core competencies for application in practice, serving patients who have multiple comorbidities and complex healthcare needs. This offering also serves to educate preceptors in guiding students of interprofessional partners within the clinical setting. This learning activity will be available for 3 years, until 2021.

At the conclusion of this online offering, the interprofessional learner will be able to:

  • Describe the foundations of interprofessional education
  • Discuss the four core competencies of interprofessional education and collaboration, and
  • Discuss the challenges related to facilitating team building with health professions students to provide population centered care.
