International Women’s Day 2017

Team Kenya: Educating Girls, Empowering Women, Transforming Communities

Thurs 9th March, 6.30pm- 7.45pm, followed by drinks and networking until 8.30pm


The theme of International Women’s Day 2017 is ‘Be Bold for Change!’ How can we effect change where it is most needed? How can we empower women and girls and their communities?

Join us for a talk by Mrs Val Wilson, founder and CEO of UK international development charity, Team Kenya (https://www.teamkenya.org.uk) followed by a panel discussion with academics from Northumbria and Newcastle Universities. Participants include Dr Ruth Lewis (Senior Lecturer, Social Sciences, Northumbria University); Dr Katy Jenkins (Associate Professor in International Development, Northumbria University); Professor David Leat (Professor of Curriculum Innovation, Newcastle University).
