Event description
International Women's Day is a global day recognising and celebrating incredible achievements of women and we want to spend it with YOU!

About this Event

**** EARLY BIRD TICKETS ARE ONLY $99 - LIMITED TICKETS AT THIS RATE ****

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

And we want to celebrate it with you!

As March 8 falls on a weekend, we will be coming together as a community on Friday March 6th to enjoy a high tea breakfast, a glass of Mimosa and panel presentation from four incredible Brisbanites who have ventured abroad and returned home to enjoy the sunny state. They have returned with more experience, resilience and confidence to boot.

With confidence listed as one of the biggest challenges faced by women in their professional career, we will glean their insights on how to set big goals and reach them in 2020.

Our Speakers

4 ladies who have ventured abroad and conquered their international career goals:

Indi Tansey - Community Manager, Codebots

Indi cycled and blogged her way around the world from 2011 to 2015 - but with a twist. She crowdsourced her itinerary from the blog followers, who would vote on where she should go next. Indiana June became the main character in a real-life 'choose your own adventure' story with more than 20,000 people joining her tribe and participating in the journey.

She returned to Brisbane to work in Community Management with QUT before joining Codebots as Co-Founder and Chief Community Builder. Indi will share more about her unique travel experience and the lessons learnt along the way.

Laura Stokes - Chief Marketing Officer, Orange Sky

Laura Stokes left Australia soon after graduating with an MBA from UQ in 2015, quickly landing roles with Virgin, Microsoft and other start ups during her time in the UK. In 2019 she returned to Australia to join Orange Sky as their CMO. Laura is the type of person to throw herself into the deep end and continuously challenge herself both personally and professionally. She will share her international experience and what that has taught her about herself and her career.

Jenna Fitch - Head of Digital, JSA

Jenna is a senior management and marketing professional with over a decade of digital experience, primarily in the UK and European markets prior to establishing herself in Brisbane. She is an effective leader of teams and have managed relationships and deliverables across global and local brands, including FMCG, Tech, Finance, Automotive, Retail, Property, and Government. Jenna will be sharing her global career and insights on adopting to local culture.

Marie Mortimer - Managing Director, loans.com.au

Marie is the Managing Director of loans.com.au, within the Firstmac business group. Early in her career she forged her own path abroad working with the Royal Bank of Scotland in the UK before returning to take a senior leadership role within her family business.

Moderated by:

Cara Cipollone Walsh - Board Advisor & CX Consultant

Cara moved to Brisbane from New York in 2010 where she held a powerhouse career as a Director in Adtech. Brisbane's digital scene was far from where it is today. She worked creatively to design her own 'way back' to leadership positions including emailing the Lord Mayor for a role within Brisbane City Council's Digital Strategy Program and accepting roles well below her skill level in order to get her foot in the door. Cara will share her tips of resilience and cultural adoption to reach long term goals.

Special Guest: Queensland's first Chief Customer and Digital Officer, Chris Fechner
