Event description
NCASA will be taking part in International Noise Awareness Day or INAD, April 24 2019 by organizing a Sound Walk in downtown Raleigh!

About this Event

NCASA will be taking part in International Noise Awareness Day or INAD, April 24 2019. This year, NCASA will be hosting a Soundwalk using the Hush City Smart Phone App (http://www.opensourcesoundscapes.org/hush-city/) in downtown Raleigh. Our goal is to share photos of this walk and encourage people to observe and document the noise in their surroundings.

According to the ISO norms on soundscape, a soundwalk is a walk in an area with a focus on listening to the acoustic environment.

For a quick overview, visit Dr. Antonella Radicchi’s website about soundwalks: http://www.antonellaradicchi.it/portfolio/soundwalks/

The sound walk would begin at Nash Square, 200 S McDowell St, Raleigh, NC 27601 and cover multiple points of interest around the area. Participants would measure sound, click photographs and answer feedback questions at every point.

A meal would be provided by NCASA at the conclusiong of the walk at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences,11 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601.

During the walk, participants would cover a distance of 2 miles over a period of 1 hour 15 minutes.

Parking: 201 W Morgan St, Raleigh, NC 27601

Start Time: 9:30 am

We encourage all members to take part in INAD in whatever way possible!

Please RSVP so we can plan for the food well in advance.
