ABOUT CONFERENCE

Gavin Conferences is going to host the International Microfluidics Conference on 26th-27th, May 2020 in Rome, Italy.

Scope:

Microfluidics is the technology of fluid manipulation in channels with dimensions of tens of micrometers it has emerged in recent years as a distinct new area of research thanks to its application in many diverse fields, such as chemistry, biology, medicine, and physical sciences.

A strong motivation in microfluidic research comes from the development of lab-on-chip (LOC) devices, which are expected to bring a revolution in the field of chemistry and biology as integrated circuits did in computation capabilities.

LOCs are microsystems capable of integrating entire biological or chemical laboratories in a single chip, thanks to the integration of microfluidic channels and active or passive components, such as filters, valves, mixers, and many others. The main advantage of LOCs can be found in their ability to manipulate small amounts of fluids. This leads to the possibility of performing analysis with a very limited quantity of samples, thus making most bioanalysis very little invasive and feasible in unspecialized point-of-care centers.

Importance of Microfluidics: -

Microfluidics deals with small liquid volumes, the technology may enable cost-efficient, ultra-high-throughput assays in fields like biology and drug discovery. Many groups are also working on microfluidic devices for point-of-care diagnostics and also in the field of therapeutics (e.g., drug delivery). In addition to making present experimental techniques efficient, microfluidics can be used in new types of experiments. Research on Microfluidics has been conducted since decades in academia, the market potential is only beginning to be explored.

Point-of-care diagnostic

POCT is a medical diagnostic testing performed outside the clinical laboratory in close to where the patient is receiving care. It’s performed by non-laboratory personnel and results used for clinical decision making.

Organs On Chips

Organs-on-chips are plastic micro devices the size of a USB-stay with micro-channels and little chambers that are loaded with fluid. Droplet Microfluids
