More than 80 graduate students from 39 universities in 25 nations are set to gather at the East-West Center next week to present their research at the Center’s 18th annual International Graduate Student Conference. The interdisciplinary gathering, planned and organized by EWC students, is among the largest of its kind worldwide. All conference sessions, excluding meals, are free and open to the public.

The three-day conference, which runs Feb. 14-16 at EWC’s Hawai‘i Imin International Conference Center, includes 25-panel sessions in a number of areas focusing on the Asia Pacific region and its interactions with the U.S.

Sabrina S. McKenna, Justice of Supreme Court of Hawai'i, will deliver the conference’s keynote address on ‘Gender, Sexuality, and Access to Resources: One Womxn’s Story’ on Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. It will be followed by a panel discussion on the same topic, with panellists: Ms Pamela DeLargy, an advisor for international development initiatives for Arizona State University and worked with UN on issues such as gender, border-control, HIV-prevention to name a few, Ms Ava Ladner who is an instructor at UH and focuses her courses on gender and sexuality, and Ms Crystal Kwok, the moderator for the panel, is one of the founder members of International Women's Group of EWC.

All conference sessions will take place at the Imin Center’s Jefferson Hall, located at 1777 East-West Road opposite UH Manoa’s Kennedy Theatre. The panel sessions run between 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 15& 16. For more information, contact 944-1111, or StudentConference@EastWestCenter.org
