Description

The opening International Day of Prayer will be held on Saturday November 2nd from 8:30am to 4:30pm at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC. This will be the public launch of our International week of fasting (IWOPF, November 2nd - November 10th).


The opening International Day of Prayer will include speakers, music, a Procession of the Nations, all-day Eucharistic Adoration, Mass at noon, and the four mysteries of the Rosary recited by representatives of African, Asian, North and South American, and European nations in their native languages.

Confirmed speakers for this year’s opening International Day of Prayer are:

  • Abby Johnson: ProWoman, ProChild, ProLife, the former Planned Parenthood director whose story inspired the new movie and best-selling DVD Unplanned.
  • Father Ubald Rugirangoga, Rwandan healing priest, genocide survivor and author of the new book Forgiveness Makes You Free.
  • Father Chris Alar M.I.C., Director of the Association of Marian Helpers and author of the new book, After Suicide: There’s Hope for Them and You.
  • Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life of America.
  • Monsignor Charles Pope, Pastor of Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian Parish in Washington, D.C. He is a popular blogger, speaker and author.
