Track 3: Herbal Medicine: Green Science

Herbal medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine which is prepared exclusively from medicinal herbs and plants. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) estimation, around 80% of the population is some Asian and African countries use herbal medicine for primary health care as it is more economical. The herbal treatment method is also been used as remedies for chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, and end-stage renal diseases. Herbal remedies are of increasing demand in European countries. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 25% of modern drugs used in the United States have been derived from plants. It is estimated that 11% of the total 252 drugs found in essential medicine list of WHO are exclusive of plant origin.

Track 4: Ayurveda: Self-Healing

Ayurveda has its origins in the Vedic culture of India which is a natural healing system that is 5000 years old. The terminology Tri-Dosha describes that human beings are part of nature in which three fundamental energies that govern our inner and outer environment. The Ayurveda describes that the medicine is divided into eight components. Ayurvedic practitioners approach diagnosis by using the five senses. Ayurveda has paved a way to treat Alzheimer's disease which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by severe memory loss. Several Ayurvedic medicinal plants and their constituents treat Alzheimer's disease effectively. In recent years, few well-known pharmaceuticals have started investing in Ayurvedic medicine in European and several Asian countries because of its increased usage.

Homeopathy is an alternative medicine which has its origin at the end of 18th century by a German physician. The Philosophy of Homeopathy says that good health is based on the balance of vital force and the imbalance in those vital forces causes disease. Track 7: Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine is a worldwide recognized medical practice which has its root dates back for more than 2500 years. The Chinese Materia Medical is a pharmacological reference book for Chinese medicine practitioners. The Traditional Chinese herbal remedy Artemisia annua which has been used in China for almost 2000 years is found to be effective against malaria and could prevent almost one million deaths annually from severe malaria.

Track 8: Acupuncture - Needle Therapy

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine which is used to treat musculoskeletal problems and treat a wide range of conditions. It is widely applied for the treatment of the various neurological disorder. According to recent researches, Acupuncture could be used to treat neural diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and depression by modulating the plasticity of the Central Nervous System. Recent studies show that the use of Acupuncture resulted in satisfactory treatment of conditions such as addiction to illicit drugs and alcohol, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, and tennis elbow. Acupuncture is also an effective treatment method for asthma without any side effects.

Track 9: Siddha

Siddha is originated from the ancient Vedic writings of Tamil culture written on palm leaf manuscripts. Siddha follows some procedures along with the medication such as intense yogic practices and periodic fasting and meditation. Recent studies prove that various herbals from Siddha have potential anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties. Even the latest research evidence shows that Siddha medicine is capable of treating cervical cancer. Also, Siddha medicine has been used among masses and showed effective results in developing resistance against mosquito-borne disease dengue.

Track 10: Unani

Unani was introduced by 13th century during the Mughal rule in India. According to Unani, treatment of any disease depends on the right diagnosis of the disease and provide suitable treatment. There are several universities in India, Pakistan and South Africa providing Unani degree courses. The treatment procedure of Unani medicine includes regimental therapy apart from the naturally derived medicine which eliminates toxic agents and cleanses the system. Some herbs from Unani medicine is found to possess properties like anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and enzyme inhibitory activities. Recent clinical studies prove that Unani medicine is effective in treating women suffering from infertility issues caused due to obesity and polycystic ovary disorder. The studies based on Unani medicine are gaining more attention and the research is creating higher impact factor.

Track 11: African Traditional Medicine

African traditional medicine has its origin in the African sub-continent. Initially, it was said to be the primitive method of medication but now it has gained attention among the research scientist. The traditional African treatment mainly focuses on the patient's social environment as the main cause of the disease rather than medical or physical reasons. This medicine is found to be effective and economical for several diseases and so many developing countries show interest in integrating African traditional medicine with the modern health care system. It is also found that this traditional medicine is even capable of treating many dangerous viral diseases like Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and Ebola.

Track 12: Japanese Traditional Medicine - Kampo

The Japanese Traditional Medicine otherwise called as Kampo has its drug formulation dates back by more than 1500 years. Recent decades have seen a revival of Kampo medicine in medical practice, accompanied by a scientific reevaluation and critical examination of its relevance in modern health care. Traditional herbal medicine has been gradually reemerged and 148 different herbal extract formulations are found in the National Health Insurance drug list. As a result of the recent study, Kampo proves to provide effective treatment to dementia and other refractory diseases. Kampo also proves to improve cognitive function. It is also found that Kampo medicine is effective in treating liver disease and gastrointestinal disorder.

Track 13: Korean Traditional Medicine

The origin of Korean Traditional Medicine traces back to 3000 B.C and it is traditional East Asian Medicine. Korean Traditional Medicine is mostly associated with Chinese traditional medicine and Japanese traditional medicine. The Korean Traditional Medicine emphasizes that the balance between the mind and body is the key requirement to maintain good health. The prescription of herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment are provided to the patients based on the body type of each person. The method of diagnosis in Korean Traditional Medicine is done by pulse diagnosis, tongue, and facial inspection and extensive questioning. Traditional Korean Medicine is proved to be an effective treatment procedure for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.

Track 14: Shiatsu - Art of Touch

Shiatsu is a medical treatment technique which has its origin from Japan. Shiatsu technique includes providing treatment by massage therapies, meditations, and specialized breathing techniques. The shiatsu massage techniques are derived from acupressure and acupuncture. The Shiatsu therapist is well trained and is capable of detecting various symptoms through the ability of touch and sense even before the physical symptoms begin to appear. This therapeutic treatment can be used to treat various chronic ailments like musculoskeletal problems, insomnia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, asthma, fibromyalgia, migraine and joint pain. People regularly following Shiatsu claims that they experience relief from stress and anxiety.

Holistic Medicine is the concept of medicine which treats the patient as a whole. The treatment methods overlook the person’s physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing completely. The holistic medicine considers the body system as interdependent parts and so the treatment method involves in balancing the person’s complete system. Even though the traditional medicine has several years of history, it has various ethical issues which needs to be addressed for Global recognition. There are some quality issues pertaining in harvesting, collecting, handling and production of herbal and other traditional medicine that has to be looked out for improvement of standards. Further research and development is needed on dosage, production techniques, mode of action of the traditional medicine. Also the clinical trials of the medicine is important to understand the safety and efficacy before being recommended to the World market.
