Event description

Description

Already know how to make a tincture, but looking for more guided info on plant uses? Interested in learning about and having access to fresh growing plants? This tincturing event is for you! Join me as I walk the lot and highlight 15+ different wild plants and their intended uses in tincturing. Students are encouraged to harvest goodies and bottle tinctures right on site or to take home.

This course includes an instructional booklet with 50 plant profiles. Tincture making supplies may be purchased seperately, or feel free to bring your own materials. Premade tincture may be purchased day of, depending on availability.

This event WILL NOT verbally go over the basics of making a tincture. New to tincture making and looking for instruction? Check out my Tincture Making with Fresh Plants class!

Please consider coming 10-15 minutes early to go over waiver and get settled. Water and sunscreen will be provided. As this event is outdoors, please check back day-of to make sure that it has not been moved or canceled due to extreme weather conditions.

About the Instructor: Katya Hervatin, owner of Fecund (fek'und): Herbal Products, has been studying and working with wild and cultivated plants for several years. Inspired by her interest in creating plant based health and beauty care products, she seeks to share her knowledge with others while cultivating and furthering her own understanding of all things plant related.

About the host: The Cooperation Operation is a community organization that transforms vacant land into spaces for educational and economic empowerment in Chicago’s neighborhood of Pullman.

Notes about accessibility: While the gardening space itself is accessible, the road leading to it is unpaved and the porta-potty on site is not wheelchair compatible. The walk will accommodate the abilities of those attending. Please feel free to message Fecund (fek'und): to make any special arrangements before the event. Additionally, the space is prone to experiencing harsh weather conditions such as full sun and high wind. Exposure to irritating plants, smells, and insects are possible.
