Event description
Intermediate Underwater ROV Technologies - Teacher Workshop.

About this Event

The Intermediate ROV Teacher Workshop will bring teachers into the digital realm of ROV technology, building upon their previous ROV experience using analog controls.

In the workshop, participants will....

  • learn Arduino programming and integrate joystick controls
  • install and program digital motor controllers
  • integrate sensor packages into ROVs
  • utilize ethernet tethers
  • waterproof and integrate "claw" actuators
  • learn how our master facilitator has woven ROVs into the fabric of his classroom over the last 15 years

The workshop is specifically designed for teachers who have attended a Square One Introductory ROV Workshop. Our learning will be particularly useful for teachers in Biology, Physics, Programming / Computers, Technology, Electronics and "STEM" content areas, among others.

Specific location TBD, and will depend on location of registered participants. Participants will receive:

  • Lunch
  • SCECHs (we'll cover the cost)
  • Joystick, sensors, Arduino, motor controllers, motors, "claw" actuator, and other hardware, hard copy resources, and access to digital resources valued over $200

Participants must bring a windows or mac laptop with the Arduino IDE installed. Anyone with special dietary needs should plan to bring their own lunch.

Registration is $100 for an individual or a team of two (same cost).

Note: this workshop focuses primarily on ROV controls, and does not involve building a complete ROV or driving/testing an ROV.
