Description:

This workshop will be a combination of classroom lecture and hands on liquid art photography. Various forms of high speed liquid art photography will be covered, including water drop collision, surface collision, audio stimulated liquids, refraction and others. This course requires a good understanding of your digital SLR camera and how to operate your camera in manual mode and set your camera up for bulb mode operation. This course requires a camera that has an external trigger input.

In the classroom portion (10:00AM-11:30AM) we will cover:

  • Examples of Liquid Art Photography
  • Liquid Art Lighting Techniques and Equipment
  • Flash Duration and it’s Importance to Liquid Art Photography
  • Liquid Art Photography Sequencing and Timing
  • Refraction and it’s use in Liquid Art Photography
  • Focus and Depth of Field in Liquid Art Photography
  • Liquid Art Photography Resources

Lunch Break (11:30AM-12:00PM)

In the hands on portion (12:00PM-4:00PM) we will cover:

  • Hands-On Refraction Session
  • Hands-On Measurement of Flash Duration
  • Hands-On Setup and Configuration of the FotoFreez PRO
  • Hands-On Water Drop Liquid Art Techniques and Equipment
  • Hands-On Water Drop Liquid Art Refraction Techniques and Equipment
  • Hands-On Water Drop Liquid Art Lighting Techniques
  • Hands-On Surface Collision Liquid Art Techniques
  • Hands-On Liquid Additives and Effects
  • Hands-On Modification and Manipulation of Liquids
  • Hands-On Audio Stimulated Liquids Techniques and Equipment
  • Hands-On Liquid Art Backdrops and Lighting Techniques
  • Hands-On Liquid Mixing and Placement

What you should bring:

  • Your Digital Camera that supports external triggering
  • Your Macro Lens, preferably 90-110mm (or extension tube)
  • Your Speedlight(s) if you have them
  • Your Tripod
