Event description

Description

Featuring generative workshops led by trained outdoor educators and creative writers. Join us and enjoy guided activities in nature and a poetry reading around the camp fire.

Attendees will contribute to and take home a commemorative zine filled with original work created over the weekend.

Workshop Descriptions:

Interior Worlds and Outdoor Exploration

Nature and the outdoors have inspired writers for centuries. Nature leads us to understanding, helps shape our views, and acts as a lens through which we see ourselves. Henry David Thoreau, Gary Snyder, Elizabeth Bishop, and countless others often turn to nature in order to explore truths about our human existence and its relationship to nature.

Attendees of this workshop will follow nature writers' footsteps and explore their internal selves through meaningful interactions with the outdoors.

Catch-and-Release Writing

What stories does a river stone tell? What insights does an oak tree or a spider's web provide the world? When are you like a bumblebee? In this workshop we will seek to answer these questions and more.

This workshop will give writers an opportunity to "capture" a natural object or subject to write about. We encourage attendees to use their preferred writing methods and welcome diverse points of view. To keep in step with Leave No Trace principles, all objects must be placed back where they are found.
