Interactive Performances at the Center for Creative Action
Tue, April 25, 2017, 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM CDT
Every day during the school year, hundreds of youth across the Austin are enter their classroom to find it transformed by color sets as they are greeted by characters that need their help, whether it's Sammy the Salamander at Barton Springs helping the animals to get along, Alex, an 8th grader who wants to be a courageous bystander, or a young Cesar Chavez learning the four steps to being a courageous leader. See our professional actor-teachers perform scenes from Creative Action's original interactive performances, which reach 10,000+ students every year in grades PreK-8th in 500 area classrooms. Learn how these programs engage young people in role-play and drama to teach critical, age-appropriate academic, social, and emotional skills aligned with school-day content.
Join us at the Center for Creative Action, our operational headquarters and community arts center, to hear from our Executive Director, Karen LaShelle, Senior Director of School-Based Programs, Lynn Hoare, and our professional Teaching Artists. Box lunches will be provided. We welcome you to spread the word and bring a friend or colleague!
