Calling NYC university faculty, researchers, and graduate students!

Are you planning to apply for NYC Media Lab's Combine accelerator program? Are you seeking to meet other potential collaborators to join your team to apply? Are you curious about the basics of the business model canvas (BMC) and lean startup methodology?

Join this ideation session to learn more about the key emerging media technology themes that NYC Media Lab Combine has a track record of supporting for commercialization and venture creation. Participants in this session will also gain an understanding of the BMC and how it is a useful tool for developing hypotheses and running experiments around starting a new company.

This session is open to all eligible applicants who are interested in NYC Media Lab Combine. Even though this session is hosted at NYU, you do not need to be an NYU affiliate to attend.

About the Combine

The Combine program exists for early stage, university affiliated startups. Through the program, NYC Media Lab provides teams with the guidance, funding, opportunities, and leadership tools needed to commercialize and reach a product-market fit for their startup concept. All faculty and students from accredited NYC universities are eligible to apply to the program.

Of the 32 early stage teams that have completed the program since the program's inception, 22 formed companies.

Since joining the first cohort graduated two and a half years ago, the teams have raised an additional $3 million in venture capital, SBIR, angel investment, friends and family money, prizes and other grants. Three teams have joined TechStars, including Vidrovr, a team that makes video machine readable; Braiq, a team that building a system that connects biometric information from passengers with the artificial intelligence systems in self-driving cars; and Geopipe, which makes it possible to create automatic 3D models of cities.
