Event description

Description

Join us in the Richmond, VA area on Saturday, February 16, for the first annual Intelligent Design Education Day sponsored by The Richmond Center for Christian Study and cosponsored by the Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture (Seattle, WA). This event is open to the general public!

This event provides a unique opportunity for high school students and their parents or educators to come hear about the exciting and developing scientific research of intelligent design, an alternative to Darwinian evolution as a theory of the origins of biological life and the universe itself. Among other speakers will be Dr. Michael Behe, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Science and Culture and a Professor of Biological Sciences at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, and Dr. Paul Nelson, also a Senior Fellow of the Discovery Institute and an Adjunct Professor in the Master of Arts Program in Science & Religion at Biola University. Both Behe and Nelson have been involved in intelligent design research and scholarship for at least three decades, and are passionate about sharing the developing research with open-minded students. Come learn about recent scientific findings that have refuted Darwin's theory of evolution and pointed instead towards design and purpose in the natural world.

Students will have the privilege of engaging in a Q&A with each of the speakers, following their presentations. The chance to set down the textbooks and step outside the typical classroom environment to talk directly with scientists working in the fields of biochemistry and evolutionary theory is a rare opportunity that you'll not want to miss!

More details and a complete schedule will be provided soon, but you are encouraged to secure your spot by registering today! Individuals can register now for $10, with additional family members costing only $5/each. If space is available on the day of, walk up registration will increase to $15 for individuals and $5 for additional family members.

For registration questions, please contact Daniel Reeves, Educational Outreach Coordinator for the Center for Science and Culture, at dreeves@discovery.org or (206) 826-5557.
