Abstract:
Intelligence-driven computer network defense (CND) and the cyber kill chain (CKC) is a risk management strategy developed by Lockheed Martin as a framework for understanding and defeating cyber attacks. Similarly as in the cyber realm, spiritual attacks occur daily against the system known as our mind, heart and soul. In this talk, Eric will describe use of intelligence-driven CND and intrusion kill chains in current-day cyber defense, and draw parallels that could be used for defending against compromise of those systems which we consider most important to us.
Speaker Bio:
Eric Anderson is the Detection Manager for General Motors’ Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) under the Cyber Defense directorate. As the CIRT Manager for GM’s Austin location, Eric manages Event and Incident Analysts in Austin, the day-to-day operations of the team, and maturing of the overall CIRT mission. Prior to General Motors, Eric worked for Lockheed Martin for nearly 17 years, the last 8 as cyber projects manager and lead incident handler responsible for computer network defense of U.S. Department of Energy Hanford site unclassified systems.
Eric Anderson is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), and received his B.S. in Mathematics/Actuarial Science from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. Eric enjoys time spent exploring Austin Texas with his wife Deb.
