Intelligence Community Whistleblowers: Key Viewpoints
Event Information
About this Event
The topic of whistleblowers has dominated the news and public conversation lately, along with widely differing viewpoints of their role and approval in the Intelligence Community.
What is a whistleblower, and how does it differ from a leaker, a spy, or an insider threat? What obligations do members of the Intelligence Community have to report matters of fraud, waste, and abuse, and what protections exist for them when they do? Independent of political considerations, these are important questions that have crucial implications for national security, the Intelligence Community workforce, and foreign partnerships.
Our panel of academic, legal, and government experts, to include a former USIC whistleblower and a national security correspondent, will make for a robust conversation on this timely and important topic.
This is a brown-bag /"power lunch" type of discussion that occurs over the lunch hour. Light refreshments will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch or stop by their favorite to-go restaurant on the way to the event. All are free to enjoy their food while listening to the panelist remarks.
We will have a Q&A session after the panel discussion.
