On behalf of USAID/Tanzania, you are invited to join fellow implementing partners for an interactive, practice-oriented workshop on integrating nutrition into agricultural program design in Tanzania.

This workshop will include:

- Overview of agriculture-nutrition objectives for USAID/Tanzania and Government of Tanzania and relevance to programming

- Practical ways to integrate nutrition and agriculture programming effectively

- Experience with ACDI/VOCA’s Nutrition Sensitive Intervention Design tool

- Opportunities to collaborate & share nutrition-sensitive approaches with other implementers

- Site visit to nutritionally fortified food processor

Facilitators:

Ladd is Senior Technical Director for Nutrition at ACDI/VOCA and has over 25 years of international nutrition experience in developing countries, including in-depth experience throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Ladd leads ACDI/VOCA’s nutrition-sensitive agriculture programming and is a recognized thought leader in the ag-nutrition nexus, finding creative, strategic, and sustainable ways to incorporate nutrition into agriculture programs leading to impact in vulnerable households. She co-developed an interactive work planning and design tool to enable agricultural programs to integrate nutrition. Ladd is a Registered Dietitian (RDN) who holds a M.S. in Public Health and Nutrition from James Madison University and a B.S. in Human Nutrition from Oklahoma State University.

Daniel White is Technical Director for Agriculture at ACDI/VOCA. Mr. White has provided technical design, strategic support, and implementation on food security and agriculture activities in Tanzania (including the USAID-funded FTF NAFAKA I & II activities), Mozambique, and Zambia (including the USAID-funded FTF PROFIT PLUS project). With more than 10 years of experience in private sector horticulture and donor-funded agricultural development projects, White has managed and designed projects on ag productivity, training and behavior change, and research and learning around the globe. His work focuses on the interplay between agriculture and other economic and social systems. He has a Masters in Development Studies from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

Silas Ng’habi is an agricultural and value chain development expert with over 20 years of experience in Tanzania and East Africa. He currently serves as DCOP for NAFAKA II, USAID/Tanzania’s flagship staples crop development activity. Over the course of his career, he has developed a strong network of contacts throughout the GoT line ministries and PO-RALG, private sector, and implementing partners.
