Description

Join us and bring your manufacturing/process/product engineers participate in the upcoming event hosted by Costco Optical Lab

3D printing technology can have a major impact on industries from automotive to healthcare to heavy industry, and huge global brands are beginning to reinvent their businesses for the digital manufacturing future. The question isn’t if 3D printing will be the new platform for global mass-production, it’s when.

In terms of timing, it’s still early enough in the broad adoption of 3D printing that there’s plenty of time for learning, and plenty of competitive advantages for organizations that want to transform their business with digital manufacturing.

The 3D printing or additive manufacturing idea is that it will speed up time to market and make organizations more agile and be more competitive. Companies use 3D printing for a variety of applications from internal maintenance to parts consolidation, make more niche products, save weight and do all the things the technology is supposed to do.

Join us to share experiences, ask questions and learn.

Description: Learn from the additive manufacturing experience at Costco Optical how to integrate 3D Printing into Manufacturing operations, the tradeoffs for shifting to 3D printed parts and determining when to integrate in house versus purchase. In this 3D manufacturing tour we will be presenting the different technologies Costco Wholesale uses for our daily productions that includes SLA printing and FDM Printing. We will be discussing the materials used for example; PLA, ABS, PC, TPU, Liquid Resin, CPE+, ASA; In this tour we will be showing how a part development works. We will design a part in Fusion 360 from beginning to end. We will print the designed 3D part, while it prints we will do a tour of the facility presenting all 3D prints done.

Agenda:

1) Presentation of how 3-D printing works

2) Concept and design of the part that that we will be duplicating in 3-D printing

3) Start the actual work on the printer

4) Tour of the facility while the printer is finishing the job

5) Review finish product after has been printed.
