Andrea Honigsfeld

Andrea Honigsfeld is a professor and associate dean in the Division of Education at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, New York. She is a best-selling author and a former EFL/ESL teacher with more than 20 years of experience in helping educators meet the needs of diverse learners in their schools and communities. She is co-author with Maria Dove on the book, Collaboration and Co-teaching for English Learners: A Leader’s Guide.

David Rose

David Rose is director of World Languages and ENL for the Oceanside School District, where he has served for the past fourteen years. He also teaches in the TESOL certification program at Queens College. Dr. Rose was recognized by the Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Center for his commitment to the Hispanic community and his support and respect for the importance of cultural diversity in schools and communities.

This conference will :

  • explore how content and language integration can work together in support of the Next Generation Language Standards
  • explore collaboration at the classroom, school and district levels that all work together to maximize student assets and lead to the effective inclusion of culturally and linguistically diverse students every lesson, every day.
  • take an in-depth look at the collaborative instructional cycle and utilizing co-teaching approaches to maximize academic language development for ALL students.
  • teach participants ways to support shared curriculum development for ELs and what type of leadership is needed for integrated, collaborative schools.
  • include a panel of local administrators sharing their views and insights in support of the Next Generation Language Standards topic
