The Instrumental Workshop Series is for musicians of all ages who want to improve their musical skills.

About this Event

This two-hour masterclass, led by Willow DiGiacomo, will focus on all aspects of clarinet playing, including warm-up exercises, tone/technique development, articulation, intonation, phrasing, and breath control. Participants may have the opportunity to perform for the class and receive one-on-one feedback from the instructor as an example for the group.

Willow DiGiacomo (Clarinet)

Willow Fawn DiGiacomo, Assistant Director of Bands, and Coordinator of Wind Studies at the University of Mount Union, hails from the villiage of Minerva, Ohio. Prof. DiGiacomo is completing her fifth year employed by UMU. She performs regularly in the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra, the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Ekklesia Reed Quintet, and the Venner Clarinet Choir. Prof. DiGiacomo earned her Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Mount Union with concentrations in Psychology and Studio Arts in 2011, and then began working on her Master’s at the University of Akron where she held a Graduate Assistantship in Clarinet Performance. Immediately following she completed a second Master’s in Wind Conducting. Willow has enjoyed teaching and performing on multiple woodwind instruments including the flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto saxophone in various genres such as musicals, gospel, Klezmer bands, featured solo work, wind bands, chamber work, weddings, etc. She spends her spare time with her Quarter Horse, Rocky, and two cats, Amaryllis and Elmindreda.
