Description

INSPIRING MUSIC: Heroes and History April 21, 2018, 3pm

Heroes come in different forms. Sometimes they are persons who inspire our life’s work, as Bach, Mozart and Mendelsohn inspired Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. A prolific composer, his Mass in C Major, performed by the Chorale, harkens back to an earlier time in structure and sound. Sometimes a tragic event is the inspiration for the creation of a magnificent piece of music. Memorial by Rene’ Clausen is based on subject material, which reflects the horrific events of September 11, 2001, in New York City. Though presented as one continuous movement, the composition actually consists of four sub-sections - September Morning, The Premonition, The Attack, and Prayers & Petitions. The Yavapai College Master Chorale debuted this work in Prescott and later performed it in Helsinki.
