Event description

Description

Today's major gift donors are mainly interested in the impact of their gift, not the impact on your organization, but the impact on those your organization serves. Utilizing storytelling to describe your impact is a powerful tool in inspiring donors to understand and invest in your organization. And every organization has a story of impact to tell!

This interactive workshop will delve into the power of storytelling, first exploring the psychology behind storytelling, specifically how it contributes to human learning and decision-making. Then, we will discuss and analyze storytelling techniques employed by some of the world's best storytellers in the world from Pixar to Lucasfilm to Stanford University. Storytelling techniques include creating a hook, identifying a hero, developing a narrative arc, and providing action opportunities.

Once attendees learn the above techniques, they will be asked to apply and practice these techniques for their own organization. Every attendee will walk away with a compelling, in-depth working story for their organization and be equipped with the tools to enhance and expand their story into both strategic and tactical growth-focused donor engagements.

A special thank you to Women in Kind for hosting this training.
