Inspire.Legal™
Join us as we seek to create a functional roadmap for legal innovation and map out the most pressing problems facing the legal industry!
About this event
(***Note: At registration, you will be asked to contribute at least one brief (one- to three-sentence) problem statement encapsulating a serious obstacle to lawyers providing, or clients obtaining, significantly better legal advice.
To provide some background and to give you some inspiration, we pulled together a page explaining the exercise: https://inspire.legal/problems/. Give it a look if you haven't already, and think about the problem you care about most passionately before proceeding to checking out!)
What is Inspire.Legal™?
Too often, legal technology and innovation conferences simply rehash the same tired conversations and revolve around the brightest, shiniest new tech widgets in the market—widgets that frequently feel like solutions in search of problems.
Inspire.Legal™ is different. We’re seeking to create a functional roadmap for legal innovation—free from pay-to-play bias—by bringing together a diverse range of lawyers, clients, technologists, and other legal innovators to crowdsource a curated set of the most pressing problems facing our industry and to forge action-oriented recommendations that can serve as an industry-wide blueprint for legal evolution and inspire tomorrow’s change-makers to focus on solutions that will generate the greatest possible impact.

Who will be there?
We’ve recruited dynamic legal innovators from across the legal industry—from top international law firms like Clifford Chance to major clients and corporate legal departments like Barclays; from leading law schools to the trenches of the fight to expand access to justice; from established legal technology and innovation incumbents like Thomson Reuters to the brightest up-and-coming legal innovation entrepreneurs—to help facilitate the dialogue and contribute their own thoughts and ideas to the project. Some of those (listed as “Luminaries” on our website) will be serving as workshop discussion leaders and moderating our interactive “Unpanels.”
How will it work?
At registration, participants will each contribute at least one short (one- to three-sentence) problem statement encapsulating a serious obstacle to lawyers providing or clients obtaining significantly better, more effective legal advice.
The Legal Problems Forum
With the help of our Luminaries, in the weeks leading up to February 1st, we will take these ideas, add them to those generated by our Luminaries, and identify common themes and pockets of related challenges to serve as areas of focus during the conference’s workshop component, the Legal Problems Forum (the “Forum”), which will generate two outputs:
- a Legal Problems Report (identifying those problems and challenges that present the most significant and wide-ranging obstacles to improving the practice of law and client service and laying the groundwork upon which innovative solutions can be built); and
- a Request for Startups List (reflecting those needs that, despite being currently unmet, are ripe for a solution now and represent discrete, meaningful opportunities for would-be innovators to fill a key void on the legal landscape).
The Unpanels
We’ll also be taking a collaborative deep dive into some particular problems. To challenge and inspire attendees as they prepare for their Forum sessions, our Luminaries will lead interactive, provocative discussions on critical issues on the legal innovation landscape that they believe to hold great significance.
