Inspiration Proclamation: Mary McAleese in conversation
Event Information
Description
This series of public interviews at the National Library of Ireland considers the relevance of the 1916 Proclamation. Is it seen now as an inspirational text or as a historical document?
Dr Mary McAleese is one of a diverse and distinguished list of speakers to give their individual responses, in an interview series that aims to engage, inspire and provoke discussion. The other speakers in the series, which runs from September - November 2016, are Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, writers Roddy Doyle and Edna O'Brien, and Professor Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh.
Dr John Bowman, who moderates all of the interviews, is a broadcaster and historian. His latest book is Ireland, the autobiography, published by Penguin Ireland.
