Join Tribeca Festival Creator Vishaal Reddy, Award-Winning Director Michelle Cutolo, the series producers, and members of the cast for the Premiere of the upcoming new series "Insomnia'.
Taking cues from Master of None, Louie, Fleabag, and High Maintenance, the series follows a South Asian bisexual writer suffering from insomnia who secretly moonlights as an escort to support his sick aunt.
Insomnia is a half hour, single-camera dramedy series that follows the darkly, absurd, late night adventures of Nikhil Sharma (Vishaal Reddy, The Punisher, Bull), a struggling, Indian-American writer that can’t seem to get his life together, his best friend, Savan (Cheech Manohar, Mean Girls on Broadway), a type-A dental student who's charm constantly bails Nikhil out of trouble, Leela (Kuhoo Verma, The Big Sick), a scrappy Hillary Clinton wannabe who struggles to be taken seriously in a male dominant field, and Nikhil's aunt, Meera (Nandita Shenoy), a crafty polished woman, who's multiple sclerosis is causing her life to deteriorate. This is Nikhil's journey to find love, happiness, and his true identity. This is a story about growing up. And Failing. A lot.
The series also stars Nikki Renee Daniels (Hamilton, Book of Mormon), Aneesh Sheth (Difficult People, High Maintenance, New Amsterdam), Alison Barton (Master of None), James Seol (Living With Yourself), Daniel Burns, Jason Veasey (The Lion King on Broadway)
This Premiere is part of a double feature that will also screen the film "Lust, Life, Love", which stars Stephanie Sellars and features the likes of Bill Irwin, Jake Choi, and Makeda Declet.
