Insights STEAM Summer Camps at UTEP
Great News! Insights is hosting multiple science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) summer camps at UTEP throughout the summer of 2018. Our camps provide a fun engaging environment your kids to dive into in hands-on activities designed to review state educational standards (TEKs) for each grade level. They're a great way to keep your kids engaged this summer and get ready for the start of the school year. All Insights STEAM summer camps are designed and run by certified teachers with the help of UTEP students training to become Math and Science teachers. Students will learn problem solving skills as the tackle challenges with real world connections.
Zootopia STEAM Summer Camp
1 week, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Suggested ages 9-11 (4th and 5th graders)
Location: UTEP's Centennial Museum and Desert Gardens
Jump into the world of animals and zoos through a variety of STEAM lessons and activities! Campers will craft a scale model replicating some of El Paso Zoo’s most popular animal attractions, play BINGO while identifying biomes from around the world, and adapt their own “bird beaks” to eat the most candy. Campers will also explore what makes up the world animals live in by identifying the non-living parts of our environment, role-playing photosynthesis, creating an edible rock cycle, and much more. $100 for the entire week, campers need to bring their own lunch.
