Description
Insights STEAM Summer Camps at UTEP
Great News! Insights is hosting multiple science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) summer camps at UTEP throughout the summer of 2018. Our camps provide a fun engaging environment your kids to dive into in hands-on activities designed to review state educational standards (TEKs) for each grade level. They're a great way to keep your kids engaged this summer and get ready for the start of the school year. All Insights STEAM summer camps are designed and run by certified teachers with the help of UTEP students training to become Math and Science teachers. Students will learn problem solving skills as the tackle challenges with real world connections.
Superhero Math and Science STEAM Summer Camp
1 week, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Suggested ages 11-14 (6th, 7th, and 8th graders)
Location: UTEP's Aerospace Education Lab
Join a super-squad and fly into the world of superheroes, their stories and costumes, and your own super powers! Campers will try to outfly Superman (on scooters) and outrun the Flash, escape a super villain using lasers, mirrors, and the Law of Reflection, and play Frisbee with a new math hero called Super Slope. Campers will also experiment with human “super” powers of static electricity and our five senses, build their own web (radioactive spiders not included), and much more. Throughout the camp, kids will invent their own superhero, design their costume, and even calculate how much damage a superhero can cause when fighting a villain. $100 for the entire week, campers need to bring their own lunch.
