Event description

Description

In just three months, more than 650,000 Rohingya refugees, about the population of Seattle, fled to Bangladesh, escaping horrific violence and devastation.

Join us for an evening reception with on-the-ground responders from BRAC whose life-saving efforts were featured in The New York Times, BBC, NBC, and National Public Radio. Virtual Reality displays will be on hand for guests to look inside the settlements and hear stories that illustrate the resilience of refugee families. Guests will learn about the short- and long-term ramifications of the Rohingya's persecution and displacement.

BRAC is one of the world's largest and most effective non-governmental organizations, reaching more than 120 million people across 11 countries. It has provided services to nearly 500,000 Rohingya refugees including health, clean water, education for children, and much more. The organization started as a relief operation after the Bangladesh civil war in 1972 and has grown into one of the most impactful aid organizations in the world.
