INFANT ISLAND

Fredericksburg, VA

https://infantisland.bandcamp.com/

Formed in 2016 by guitarist Alexander Rudenshiold, bassist Kyle Guerra, vocalist Daniel Kost, and drummer James Rakestraw – originally became notable in 2018 with their critically acclaimed self-titled record () for a genre-melding blend of shoegaze and screamo. On their 2020 follow ups, and , they embrace those same elements of shoegaze and screamo, only to de- and re-construct them into something totally different. Taking cues from the atmospheric tendencies of bands like and , while simultaneously embracing the chaos of their contemporaries in and , Infant Island forges a new path for themselves filled with punishing performances, thanks in part to the addition of new drummer Austin O’Rourke and guitarist Winston Givler. These lineup changes and the ever-bleaker state of the world have pushed the band to new extremes: combining elements of atmospheric black metal, grindcore, post-metal, and (of course) screamo to create something entirely new; something uniquely Infant Island.

EKKO ASTRAL (1st show!!)

Washington, DC

EKKO ASTRAL is the beat-em-up gender punk band you never knew you wanted until they pounded your ear holes to a bloody pulp. Their Washington DC-bred witches’ brew of fast-slamming rock rips straight from the pages of acts like MC5 and The Stooges, with lyrics focused on the struggles of being trans in the current sociopolitical climate. The group consists of Jael Holzman, Bren Tyler (of Pretty Bitter, Nah.), Liam Hughes (of Silent Tides) and Stephen Yaeger.
